Delta State's First Private University
Novena University was established to meet the yearnings and aspirations of Nigeria's youth and women who could not secure admission in existing tertiary institutions.
Founded in 2005, Novena University Ogume became the first private university in Delta State, Nigeria. Born out of a clear need — the spaces available in existing institutions simply could not accommodate the many thousands seeking education each year — Novena was built to be different: accessible, rigorous, and transformative.
Over two decades, Novena has grown from a pioneering institution into a fully accredited, multi-disciplinary university with four colleges, a postgraduate school, a developing world-class teaching hospital, and graduates across Nigeria and the global diaspora.
In 2025, as we celebrate our 20th anniversary, the National Universities Commission granted full accreditation to every programme we offer — confirming our place as one of Nigeria's most credible private universities.
