Novena University, Ugbowo-Benin City, celebrated a landmark moment on June 29, 2026, as 84 graduates of the Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) programme were formally inducted into the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) at the 2nd Oath-Taking Ceremony of the institution — a ceremony the graduating cohort dubbed the "Vanguard Set."
A Morning of Professional Commitment
The ceremony, held on the Novena University campus, brought together academic leadership, MLSCN officials, healthcare professionals, families, and well-wishers to witness the graduates take their professional oath — a formal commitment to the values, ethics, and responsibilities of Medical Laboratory Science practice in Nigeria.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Godwin C. Nduka presided over the ceremony, joined by the Registrar and senior faculty of the College of Medical and Health Sciences. Representatives of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria were on hand to formally admit the graduates into the profession.

Novena University's B.MLS (Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science) programme is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and recognised by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria. Graduates are equipped to work across clinical pathology, haematology, microbiology, chemical pathology, histopathology, and medical parasitology — forming a critical pillar of Nigeria's healthcare diagnostics infrastructure.
